The swiss canton of Zurich (in german Zürich) has a population of some 1.2 million. Its capital is the City of Zurich.
The canton of Zurich is situated on the northern side of the
Alps. Its neighbouring cantons are
Schaffhausen to the north,
Aargau to the west, the cantons of
Zug and
Schwyz to the south and the cantons of
Thurgau and
St.Gallen to the east. Most of
Lake Zurich is located within the canton.
The Canton is divided into 171 communities in 12 districts:
The parliament has 200 members elected every four years
The cabinet with 7 members.
