Zooarchaeology is the study of animal remains from
archaeological sites. The remains primarily consist of the hard parts of the
body such as bones, teeth and shells. Such remains represent the
food refuse of ancient populations as well as the use of animals transportation, decoration, or pets. Zooarchaeology helps complete our picture of the way of life of ancient people and the kind of environments they inhabited.
