XviD is an open sourceMPEG-4 video codec based on OpenDivX. XviD was started by a group of German hackers after OpenDivX closed their source.
The current stable release is 0.9.1, unstable builds include features such as b-frames, quarter pixel motion compensation, global motion compensation, and lumi masking, in varying stages of completion.
